Genre - What types are there?

Within film there are many different types of stories, these different stories are known as the genre. There are lots of different genres, these are:
 -Action
-Adventure
-Comedy
-Crime and gangster
-Drama
-Epics/Historical
-Horror
-Musicals/dance
-Science fiction
-War
-Westerns

Action: Action films are usually very fast-paced and full of energy, lots of chases and stunts tend to be included along with fights, battles, explosion and fire. The types of characters that are in these films are superheroes and war-based characters.

Adventure: Adventure films tend to revolve around an exciting storyline where characters go on an adventure to discover or find something. An example of this is the Lord Of The Rings series, in this series the main characters go on an epic journey accross middle earth in order to destroy 'the ring'.

Comedy: Comedy films are usually packed with jokes and funny things happening to the main characters. The main characters tend to undergo lots of pain during comedy films in order ot make the audience laugh. Most situations in a comedy are slightly exaggerated in order to make it funnier. The main reason for comedy is to obviously make you laugh and smile.

Crime and gangster: Crime and ganster films mainly involve mobs and crinimals. These mobs are generally played by men and so are the cirminals. In these films you see a lot of murder and the law tends to get broken through out the film. An example of a crime and ganster film is 'Green street'. This film is based around two lots of football fans, one supporting west ham and the other millwall, they go through fights between each other continuously through out the film.

Drama: Dramas are very much based on a serious storyline telling the story of a real-life character and the things they have to go through.

Epics/Historical: Epics/Historical films are based on the past and what has happened. Historical films tend to re-enact events of what has happened whereas epics tend to tell the story of a hero or legendary figure. An example of these two films types is 'Saving private Ryan'. This film is WW2 based and is about the rescue of a boy in the army called Ryan, in the end he dies but the film is based on his resccue.

Horror: Horror films are made to try and scare people and to try and get a reaction. They can be fast or slow paced depending on whats happening. If a character is scared it may be slow paced for example. These films can be based around sci-fi characters or real-life characters or even the unknown. A good example of a horror film is 'Paranormal activity'. This film is about a couple who move into a new house which is haunted by something out of this world. Actions taken by this entity get worse throughout the film progressing to make a lot of suspense for the viewer so they get scared.

Musicals: Musicals tend to be based on real-life and throughout the characters tend to break into songs. These films can be anything from happy and upbeat to sad and depressing. A example of a musical is 'High School Musical'. This film is based around a high school kid who is popular, good at basketball and can sing. The film follows him around his school life.

Science-fiction: Sci-fi's are very imaginitive and can involve characters such as aliens from distant planets, impossible quests, heroes and even villains. Lots of sci-fis revolve around experiments which go wrong and then cause havoc to people. Westerns: westerns are about the early days when people used to ride around on horseback in America . These can be very exciting and can include violence, guns, criminals and lots of action.
What is a film opening? The film opening is the first section of a film that you see, in this section you meet the main characters, the set for the film is shown and you tend to know roughly what sort of genre the film is going to be. The video below is from the film spiderman 3, it is showing the opening 7 minutes. In these seven minutes we find out that the film is going to be full of action. We know this because Shortly into the film we see spiderman swinging from buildings in New York. We also find out who Spidermans enemy in the film is going to be, this being Harry. We know he is going to be Spidermans enemy as when they come out of the theatre they have a brief argument. Harry is also in love with Peters girlfriend, we know this from the fact Harry buys her a massive bunch of flowers. In conlcusion a film opening is something which just sets the scene for the rest of the film. It tells us who the main characters are, what they do and what genre the film is going to be.

Run lola run powerpoint

Run lola run powerpoint questions What is the meaning of the various - and then the photo montages? Whenever Lola runs into someone, we are shown a quick photo montage of what ended up happening to that character afterwards in this run. In this photo the woman is abusing the kid which ends up with social workers taking her child away. The woman lola bumps into the kid gets taken away, and then she steals another baby.  All of the photos show the future of what happens to different characters which Lola meets in the runs. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ZueKltTQXOk When Lola finally shuts up Manni with her scream, who is the animated figure that suddenly appears and says something in German? Why does the director use the spinning shots of people Lola is considering going to in order to the the money for Manni? The animated figure which appears on the screen is dressed as croupier (the person in charge of a gaming table). He is based on the actual croupier on the third run and says 'Rien ne va plus' which translates to 'No more bets'. The spinning shot around Lola before her run is used to add panic, it makes it seem as though her head is all over the place trying to think how she can find the money and get it to Manni in such a short frame of time.
